Belarus-Bryansk Oblast trade exceeds $500m in 2011

GOMEL, 3 April (BelTA) – The trade between Belarus and Bryansk Oblast exceeded $500 million in 2011, Bryansk Oblast Vice Governor Anatoly Terebunov told BelTA. According to the official, the raw statistics of the first three months of 2012 show positive trends in bilateral economic ties. “We expect the increase will make up 10-14% over the 2011 level,” he noted. Over the last two years the number of companies operating in Bryansk Oblast under the Belarusian Goods brand has gone up from 50 to 100. A joint company opened by Gomselmash to produce agricultural equipment has become the second largest taxpayer in the region. “Gomel Oblast is an old good and time-proven neighbor for Bryansk Oblast. Our ties are really strong. Apart from the economic sector, we have close relations in culture, art, and youth policy. We host numerous joint theatrical and youth festivals,” Anatoly Terebunov said.
