Belarus submits necessary documents for special investigation into import of oil products to Ukraine

MINSK, 9 March (BelTA) - Belarus has submitted necessary documents to the interdepartmental commission for a special investigation regarding the import of oil products to Ukraine, BelTA learnt from the deputy director general of Mozyr Oil Refinery Vitaly Pavlov. “We have provided the required information,” said Vitaly Pavlov. He added that in order to clarify the position of Belarus on this issue, the Mozyr refinery summoned a press conference for Ukrainian and Belarusian media on 24 February. Currently, the company continues to collect information and documents relating to the import of oil products. Vitaly Pavlov said it was too early to say what decision would be ultimately taken in relation to Belarusian oil products. A reminder, Ukraine has launched a special investigation into the importers of petroleum products and is considering a possibility of introducing tariffs to protect the domestic market from excessive imports. This may affect the interests of the Belarusian side as Mozyr Oil Refinery supplies about 40% of its products to Ukraine. In the investigation the Belarusian side is represented by Mozyr Oil Refinery, Belarusian Oil Company (BOC), Belorusneft and BOC Ukraine Mozyr Oil Refinery was established in 1975. In 1994 it was transformed into a joint stock company. The Republic of Belarus owns 42.7% of shares, Slavneft 42.6%, others 14.7%. The company specializes in oil refining, production and marketing of oil products. The share of certified products accounts for approximately 95% of total output.
