Belarus to commission two hot galvanization plants in 2011

MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) - Two hot galvanization plants will be commissioned in Belarus in 2011, First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Piotr Vityaz told media on 22 March. One of the facilities is being prepared for launch in Rechitsa. It is supposed to turn out the first pilot batch of products in Q2 2011. The second facility is located in Lida and will be commissioned by the end of the year. According to preliminary estimations around Br100 billion will be required to erect the two plants and prepare them for commissioning. Piotr Vityaz remarked that the task of increasing the output and the export of powder metallurgy products had been set in Belarus. Alexander Ilyushchenko, Director General of the State Research and Manufacturing Corporation for Powder Metallurgy, said that over the last five years Belarus has made about Br165 billion worth of powder metallurgy and welding products. There are plans to turn out approximately Br440 billion worth of these products in the next five-year term. In the last five-year term export amounted to $16 million. This five-year term it is supposed to rise to $25.5 million. The international specialized expo Powder Metallurgy 2011 is supposed to take place in Minsk on 22-25 March along with the exhibition Welding and Cutting 2011, the specialized showroom Corrosion Protection.
