Belarus to open tourist-cultural centers abroad

MINSK, 26 October (BelTA) – The Culture Ministry and the Sport and Tourism Ministry of Belarus have agreed to jointly open tourist-cultural centers abroad, Sport and Tourism Minister of Belarus Oleg Kachan told reporters on 26 October, BelTA has learnt. Oleg Kachan informed that this decision was adopted at the joint session of the two ministries. The idea was upheld by Culture Minister Pavel Latushko. Initially the Culture Ministry wanted to open Belarusian culture centers abroad, while the Sport and Tourism Ministry had plans to set up tourist-information centers aimed to promote tourism in Belarus. To cut down on costs, the two ministries decided to unite their efforts. Talking about barriers to the development of tourism in Belarus, the minster pointed to the inadequate level of roadside service. He reminded that this had recently drawn the criticism of Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich. Next week a session of the interagency expert coordination council for tourism led by Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Anatoly Tozik will be held to discuss ways to improve the roadside service in Belarus. Oleg Kachan added that Brest Investment Forum had recently been held in Pruzhany. “This forum helped to inform investors about Brest Oblast, in particular, about the tourism infrastructure along the highway bypassing Belovezhskaya Pushcha,” he explained.
