Belarus, Venezuela to set up pipe finishing company

ZHLOBIN DISTRICT, 6 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Venezuela have plans to set up an enterprise to finish pipes for the oil industry, Director General of Belarusian Steelworks Anatoly Savenok told Russian reporters who visited Gomel Oblast on 6 October, BelTA has learnt. The new production is part of Belarus-Venezuela arrangements on implementing joint projects at Belarusian Steelworks. The company will manufacture products for the oil industry of Venezuela. “I will be able to give you more details after the project is finalized,” the Director General said. Anatoly Savenok informed that Belarusian Steelworks already shipped 10,000 tonnes of hot-rolled pipes to Venezuela. Another 10,000 tonnes of pipes will be shipped later. In 2012 the company will deliver not less than 20,000 tonnes of these products. On 4-6 October Russian journalists toured Gomel, Rechitsa and Hoiniki districts where they visited major companies and social facilities. Belarusian Steelworks (BMZ trademark) was founded in 1984. The company specializes in cast sections, rolled sections, bar sections and reinforcing bars, metal cord, wire for high-pressure hoses and other kinds of wire. BMZ exports over 85% of the make to almost 70 countries worldwide. In January-August 2011, the company exported 77% of its produce.
