Belarus working on several initiatives in EurAsEC

Belarus, which now presides in EurAsEC, is preparing several initiatives to be implemented in the Eurasian Economic Community, said Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky as he met with EurAsEC Secretary General Tair Mansurov on November 28. The Belarusian head of government said, the initiatives had been sent to the heads of EurAsEC member-states. Tair Mansurov confirmed four concrete proposals had been received already. Tair Mansurov said, the Customs Union formation is the key topic in EurAsEC. “First of all, we should talk about it. But there is another priority avenue — the real economy and all problems regarding five EurAsEC states,” remarked the EurAsEC Secretary General. In his words, it is necessary to consider and study these issues closely. He said Belarus’ presidency in EurAsEC will take place under the aegis of these initiatives. Tair Mansurov told Sergei Sidorsky, the EurAsEC Integration Committee had considered the suspension of Uzbekistan’s participation in Community agencies. A notification had been received. All countries of EurAsEC agencies will now work as “quorum minus 1”. All votes in EurAsEC will be distributed like it was before Uzbekistan. Tair Mansurov said, Uzbekistan has not paid its assessed contributions in full. EurAsEC now insists that the debt must be settled.
