Belorusneft to set up joint venture with Myanmar company

GOMEL, 17 February (BelTA) – The Belorusneft oil producer is planning to establish a joint venture for seismic prospecting and service works with one of the companies from Myanmar, BelTA learnt from the press service of the company. Cooperation prospects were discussed during a visit of a Myanmar delegation to Gomel, which included representatives of the state oil and gas company. The parties discussed 2D and 3D field seismic works in Myanmar by Belarusian specialists, data processing and interpretation, drilling, well workover operations, etc. It is expected that a possibility of setting up a joint venture will be discussed in the coming months. In Gomel the parties also discussed possible supplies of Belarus-made vibro-sources of seismic signals, machines for well-workover operations and mobile drilling rigs made by Seismotechnika. The visit of representatives of the oil and gas sector of Myanmar was held as part of the agreement reached in November 2011 during an official visit to Myanmar of a Belarusian delegation headed by Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich. Back then the parties signed a protocol on cooperation in mining, exploration and refining of oil and gas, and the agreement on a possibility to give Belarus hydrocarbon fields both on a contract and on a tender basis. Belorusneft was founded in 1966 as part of Belneftekhim. The company specializes in oil and gas extraction, processing of crude hydrocarbons, oil industry services, industrial science.
