Druzhba 2011 youth forum to gather almost 1,500 participants

GOMEL, 21 June (BelTA) – An international youth tent camp Druzhba 2011 will gather nearly 1,500 young people from Belarus, Russia and Ukraine at the Friendship Monument at the border of the Gomel, Bryansk and Chernihiv oblasts, BelTA learnt from chief specialist of the department for youth affairs of the Gomel oblast executive committee Nikolai Zvezdkin. Belarus will be presented by a 300-person delegation from Gomel Oblast, Russia – by the youth from the Southwest Administrative District of Moscow, Kursk, Leningrad and Bryansk Oblasts, Ukraine – by young people from Chernihiv Oblast. This year, the forum which will be held under the motto “Together for the Future” has been organized by the Russian side. The campground project will run from 22 to 25 June. Kids will take part in a variety of sporting events (competitions in mini-football, weight lifting, arm wrestling, etc.), music and dance contests, intellectual games, programs, topical discussion clubs such as “Young Politician”, “Business for the Young” and also Slavonic Beauty-2011 contest and many more. The international youth campground project is held annually on the border of the three Slavonic countries in the run-up to the Youth Day celebrated on the last weekend of June. The project is aimed to develop friendly relations between young people of the Slavonic countries, popularize healthy lifestyles, leadership and organizational skills of young people, promote national cultures and improve the work of youth associations.
