Formation of district commissions in Belarus ends on 3 November

MINSK, 4 November (BelTA) – The formation of district election commissions in Belarus came to an end on 3 November, BelTA learnt from the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus. A total of 6,346 district commissions have been set up. Each of them includes from 5 to 19 people. Over 84,000 people were nominated to work at these commissions, including over 34,800 individuals, over 16,300 representatives of labor collectives and almost 33,000 members of political parties and public associations. In line with the Electoral Code, at least one third of the seats at the district election commissions should be given to representatives of political parties and public associations, not more than one-third to government employees. The successful presidential candidates will be announced before 23 November. Now territorial commissions are busy checking the validity of signatures submitted by 11 potential presidential candidates. On 8 November, the protocols containing the number of signatures for each candidate will be forwarded to the oblast and Minsk city commissions, and then to the CEC.
