Funds saved as a result of abolishment of welfare benefits to be injected in Chernobyl regions

BRAGIN REGION, April 25 (BelTA) – President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko demanded that the funds saved as a result of abolishment of welfare benefits should be put in the recovery of the Chernobyl-affected regions. The head of state set forth this task when visiting the Komarinsky sovkhoz in the Bragin region. Alexander Lukashenko instructed the government to consider the allocation of these funds. “We need to give these funds, which we have saved, to the regions. The regional authorities will decide where this money is most needed. This money should be accumulated for these purposes,” the President said. According to him, the financing of the Chernobyl recovery projects will be a priority. The head of state also stressed that last year the government spent around Br500 billion on welfare benefits though a great many of them were abolished.
