Gomel Oblast, Chernihiv Oblast of Ukraine to intensify cultural cooperation
KYIV, 10 May (BelTA) – Gomel Oblast and Chernihiv Oblast of Ukraine will intensify their cooperation in culture. The relevant agreement has been signed between the culture department of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee and chief directorate for culture, tourism, and cultural heritage protection of the Chernihiv Oblast State Administration, BelTA learnt from the press service of the administration.
According to the document, the sides are set to organize traditional annual cultural events, work out and implement joint programs, business and innovations projects designed to support and coordinate all forms of cultural cooperation. The culture departments intend to provide the residents of their regions with an access to the collections and other cultural values in the libraries and museums of Gomel and Chernihiv Oblasts.
The agreement also envisages exchange of information about research works in culture and arts, joint scientific and research conferences, workshops and symposiums, and other forms of scientific exchange and cooperation.
Two international agreements – Program of Cooperation between the Culture Ministry of Belarus and Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine for 2010-2013, and Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Belarus on cultural cooperation – were signed in Minsk last year. The two countries committed themselves to host mutual Days of Culture, carry out information exchange on the protection and preservation of the national cultural heritage, establish direct contacts between cultural institutions and encourage other types of bilateral cooperation in culture.
