Gomel seminar to consider consequences of WTO accession for Belarus
A one-day regional discussion seminar “The World Trade Organization: operating principles, advantages and consequences of accession for Belarusian economic entities” will take place in Gomel on January 30, Vladislav Hilkevich, co-coordinator of UNDP information work in Belarus, told BelTA.
The event is organized within the framework of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) project that was developed to aid the Belarusian government during the accession to WTO by increasing expert and institutional potential.
They plan to discuss matters concerning main principles and areas of WTO operation, responsibilities of WTO member countries, advantages and consequences of the accession for Belarus during the seminar. Issues concerning the functioning of economic entities of Belarus as a whole and the Gomel oblast in particular within the WTO will be examined in detail.
Representatives of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, local authorities, regional enterprises and firms will take part in the seminar.
