Gomel to host Belphila 2011 exhibition

MINSK, 2 September (BelTA) – The Gomel Rumyantsev-Paskevich Palace will bring together stamp collectors from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Germany, BelTA learned from the Communications and Informatization Ministry of Belarus. The meeting of stamp collectors will take place from 15 September to 9 October with the framework of the national philatelic exhibition Belphila 2011. This is the 7th philatelic exhibition in Belarus. However, Gomel, the Capital of Culture of Belarus and the CIS 2011, hosts this event for the first time. The expositions will be placed at the Rumyantsev-Paskevich Palace. The opening day of the exhibition will feature a special cancellation of the envelope with an original stamp “Gomel is the Capital of Culture of Belarus and the CIS 2011”. For the philatelic exhibition the Belarusian post office Belpochta issued a stamped envelope “The 12th national philatelic exhibition Belphila 2011” and a special postmark which will be used to cancel outgoing mail. The exhibition will open with the exposition “Gomel Oblast in the franking notes of the Republic of Belarus”. The exhibition will showcase the development of the region. The forum will also include expositions of Russia, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan. The Belphila 2011 exhibition is organized by the Belarusian Communications and Informatization Ministry, the Belarusian post office Belpochta, the Gomel palace and park complex, and the Belarusian union of stamp collectors.
