Gomel to host international handball tournament 14-16 February
GOMEL, 14 February (BelTA) – The Gomel Palace of Team Sports will host a U-20 international handball tournament on 14-16 February. Partaking in the competitions will be teams from Belarus, Russia and Turkey, BelTA learnt from the department of physical education, sports and tourism of the oblast executive committee.
The competitions, according to the specialists, will be one of the most important stages to prepare young handball players for a qualifying tournament that is due to take place in Denmark in April. The competitions in Denmark will select the best for the European Handball Championship.
The tournament in Gomel will be a round-robin one, i.e. a competition in which each contestant meets all other contestants in turn.
