History and culture of Gomel region to be put on display in Warsaw

GOMEL, 25 May (BelTA) - The exposition about the history and culture of Gomel Oblast from the collections of the Rumyantsev-Paskevich Palace will open in Warsaw on 27 May, BelTA learnt from museum. The exposition featuring such themes as “People’s Icon of Gomel Oblast” and “Inspired by Gomel” will unfold in the exhibition hall of the Russian Embassy in Warsaw. It will feature such kinds of art as traditional folk iconography that existed in Gomel region from the 18th to the 20th centuries, paintings, batik wall hangings dedicated to the city of Gomel. The audience will also be able to get acquainted with the works of such well-known artists from Gomel of the 20th -21st centuries as Robert Landarsky, Alexander Gailevich, Viktor Kazachenko and others. All in all, the Gomel museum will present over100 works of art. The exposition is organized as part of the project “Gomel is the Capital of Culture of Belarus and CIS 2011” with the participation of the Belarusian Embassy in Poland. A corresponding agreement on the exposition in Warsaw was reached with the Polish side during the Gomel Economic Forum.
