Japan to host Days of Belarusian Culture on 18-21 April


MINSK(BelTA) – The Days of Belarusian Culture will take place in Japan on 18-21 April, Vasily Golovan, Deputy Head of the State Special Cultural Events Department at the Culture Ministry, told a press conference on 9 April, BelTA has learned.

According to Vasily Golovan, such events help popularize the Belarusian culture and improve the country's image in the international arena. Hence, the increased attention is paid to their organization.

Honored Artist of Belarus, MP of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Irina Dorofeyeva called the upcoming Days of Belarusian Culture in Japan a landmark event for bilateral relations. According to her, the event will be marking, in particular, the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazis. Belarusian singers, including Irina Dorofeyeva and Krasotki band, will get the Japanese audience familiar with the Belarusian performing arts. “We will tell about our country through music and art,” the singer said.

The MP added that the trip to Japan would also include a business program, i.e. meetings with representatives of the inter-parliamentary Belarusian-Japanese friendship group and also a number of ministries, prefectures and cities. The program will also include a meeting in the Russian embassy to mark the anniversary of the Belarus-Russia Union State. The event will be attended by politicians, businessmen, Belarusian diplomats and representatives of the Belarusian diaspora.

The Days of Belarusian Culture in Japan are organized by the Culture Ministry and the Belarusian embassy in Tokyo.
