Mozyr Oil Refinery to begin processing Azerbaijani oil in mid-July

MINSK, 1 July (BelTA) - Mozyr Oil Refinery plans to get Azerbaijani oil (Azeri Light grade) this month and to begin its processing by mid-July, BelTA learnt from the company. Mozyr Oil Refinery continues to receive process oil of the Urals variety, which is being displaced from the Odessa-Brody-Mozyr pipeline as Azeri oil is being pumped in. About 600,000 tonnes of process oil need to be pumped out form the pipeline to give way to Azeri Light. The pumping of the Azeri Light oil variety to Mozyr Oil Refinery via the Odessa-Brody pipeline and the Mozyr-Brody section of the Druzhba pipeline began on 13 February 2011. The oil delivery contract was signed by Belarusian Oil Company and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR). The contract to use the Odessa-Brody pipeline was signed by Belarusian Oil Company and Ukrtransnafta. The Odessa-Brody pipeline was built to diversify oil supplies to Ukraine. It is part of the Euro-Asian oil transportation corridor. It connects the Pivdenny terminal (Odessa Oblast) and the Brody main oil pumping station (Lviv Oblast). Its length stands at 674km, the diameter is 1,020mm, with the designed throughput capacity of 14.5 million tonnes per annum. Mozyr Oil Refinery was founded in 1975 and re-incorporated into an open joint stock company in 1994. The government share in the company’s authorized fund stands at 42.7%, that of NGK Slavneft 42.6%, with other shareholders accounting for 14.7%. The company specializes in processing oil, manufacturing and selling oil products. Certified products account for about 95% of the total output.
