Over 8 million tonnes of grain harvested in Belarus
MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – Belarus has so far harvested eight million tonnes of grain, the Agriculture and Food Ministry reported.
As of 20 August, Belarusian agricultural companies cropped 2.139 million hectares (89.3% of the plan). The gross grain harvest made up nearly 8.2 million tonnes. In particular, Minsk Oblast threshed 2.1 million tonnes, Grodno Oblast – over 1.5 million tonnes, Brest Oblast – 1.35 million tonnes, Mogilev Oblast – 1.14 million tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – 1.08 million, Gomel Oblast – 958,700 tonnes.
The average yield countrywide is 38.3 centners per hectare, up 3.5 centners per hectare last year. The highest yield is in Grodno Oblast - 48.7 centners per hectare.
