Pavel Borodin: Belarus’ participation in Eastern Partnership will not hurt Union State relations

MINSK, May 19 (BelTA) – Belarus’ participation in the EU Eastern Partnership Programme will not hurt the formation of the Belarus-Russia Union State, Union State Secretary Pavel Borodin told reporters in Minsk on May 19. “The statements saying that Belarus has joined the Eastern Partnership and that the Belarus-Russian Union State was brought to the demise are complete nonsense,” Pavel Borodin noted. According to him, one way or another the European Union will have to coordinate many issues with the Belarus-Russia Union State because of its dependence on supplies of Russian mineral resources. “Europe exports 60% of titan and 48% of energy resources from Russia, and we need to agree on things,” the State Secretary underscored.
