President congratulates staff of City Clinical Hospital No. 9 of Minsk

President Alexander Lukashenko has congratulated the staff of City Clinical Hospital No. 9 of Minsk who have successfully performed the first liver transplantation in the history of Belarusian surgery, BelTA was told in the press service of the head of state. “This unique surgery has been a true triumph of domestic medicine which has gained wide international recognition,” the President said in his message of congratulations. “This impressive achievement has become possible due to purposeful government policy aimed at developing further the health care system, medical science and practice, enormous efforts and funds invested in modernisation of medical institutions,” he said. According to Alexander Lukashenko, the key to the success has been professionalism of Belarusian doctors and scientists who have been working wonders by saving human lives and reviving joy and hope in people. The President has expressed special gratitude to the specialists who have become the pioneers in transplantation of organs in Belarus. This unique operation, which lasted for 12 hours, was performed by Oleg Rummo, the deputy head doctor of the hospital for surgery, Candidate of Science (medicine). “I am confident that the staff of City Clinical Hospital No. 9 will not stop at what they have achieved, and the transplantation centre that is being established in this hospital, will open new wide opportunities for treating the most serious diseases in our country,” Alexander Lukashenko said in his message of congratulations.
