Serbia interested in Belarus-made harvesters, sprinkler systems
GOMEL, 15 November (BelTA) - Gomselmash harvesters and sprinkler systems produced by Gomel Radio Plant may soon appear on the market of Serbia, in particular the market of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Secretary of Economy, Employment and Gender Equality of the province Mr Miroslav Vasin told reporters in Gomel on 14 November. Mr Miroslav Vasin heads an official delegation that is on a visit in Gomel Oblast on 14-15 November, BelTA has learnt. The guests visited the two aforementioned Gomel-based enterprises on 14 November.
“There is an assembly facility for Belarus tractor in Novi Sad, the capital of our autonomy. We hope to step up cooperation with Belarus in the production of other types of agricultural machinery, given that the agricultural area of Vojvodina is 1.6 million hectares,” Mr Miroslav Vasin said.
Development prospects of bilateral cooperation were also discussed at a meeting with the Chairman of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Mr Vladimir Dvornik. According to the head of the region, the meeting focused on the ways of increasing the sale through contacts in industry, agriculture and services. “I think that the agreements reached during the visit will be further developed,” said Vladimir Dvornik.
The Serbian delegation also visited OAO Rechitsaagroservis and the Free Economic Zone Gomel-Raton on 14 November. On 15 November, the Serbian delegation is set to hold talks at Belarusian Steel Works.
In January-September 2012 the trade between Gomel Oblast and Serbia amounted to $30 million, up 200% over the same period last year. The export of Belarusian goods went up 3 times.
The share of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina in the economic potential of Serbia is around 40%. In the province there are 260 companies with the share of foreign capital. The population of the province is about 2 million.
