Serbia to develop cooperation with Belarus in agriculture, industry

GOMEL, 20 October (BelTA) - Serbia intends to develop cooperation with Belarus in agriculture and industry, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Serbia to Belarus Stojan Jevtic told reporters. “Serbia is considering a possibility of creating joint ventures in Belarus to process vegetables and juices with the prospect of their further delivery to the domestic market of Belarus and also to Russia, Kazakhstan and other states. Serbian businessmen will visit Belarus in the near future to work out the details of this project,” the diplomat said. Stojan Jevtic also noted that Serbia and Belarus have one natural problem in common - droughts. Serbian scientists are willing to share their positive experience in dealing with them. “In particular, we can share the seeds of drought resistant crops with your country,” added the diplomat. Speaking about projects in Gomel Oblast, he said that Serbian businessmen are ready to invest in the development of the Rogachev Canning Factory, and create joint export-oriented facilities to process farm produce, meat and dairy products in Gomel Oblast. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Serbia in Belarus Stojan Jevtic is on visit in Gomel. The diplomat is set to visit the Molochnye Produkty Dairy, Kombinat Vostok, and also to attend the presentation of the management company of the Gomel Meat and Dairy Holding Company. In January-August 2011, the trade of Gomel Oblast with the Republic of Serbia amounted to $9.6 million (up 8.5%). Export reached$ 7.5 million, import $2.1 million. The main exporters are BMZ, and Mozyrsol company.
