Tractor Belarus presented to former Indian Vice President on behalf of Alexander Lukashenko

On behalf of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko a tractor Belarus has been presented to Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Vice President of India and Chairman of the upper chamber of the Indian parliament. BelTA learnt from the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, the gift is a token of appreciation of Bhairon Singh Shekhawat’s contribution to the development of Belarusian-Indian relations. The tractor was handed over in New Delhi. The source said, during an official visit of the Belarusian head of state to India in April 2007 Bhairon Singh Shekhawat told Alexander Lukashenko about his major personal experience in running agriculture on the national scale. He also noted he still practised farming and expressed considerable interest in Belarusian agricultural machines. In response Alexander Lukashenko promised to present a tractor Belarus to Bhairon Singh Shekhawat. The Belarusian Foreign Ministry also pointed out the high level and dynamic development of Belarusian-Indian relations. Among other things the gift is meant to demonstrate high quality of Belarusian agricultural machines in India’s climate conditions. The Belarusian-Indian dialogue has positive dynamics and the return of Belarusian tractors to the Indian market looks promising, said the source.
