Visitors flock to new website Belarus.by

MINSK, June 26 (BelTA) – 4,000 visitors of the renewed website Belarus.by have been registered within one day. The statistics was revealed at a presentation of the website by Igor Lutsky, Deputy Director General of Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BelTA), on June 26. The data was gathered the previous day. The average number of visitors used to be 1,000 per day. According to Igor Lutsky, the website’s feedback solution works effectively. Proposals for adding links to websites and services have been made. Developers of the website say that website links can be placed on the official website of the country provided the linked website has a good English version. The official website of the Republic of Belarus Belarus.by is designed to provide brief but comprehensive information about the country. BelTA Director General Dmitry Zhuk remarked that the developers intend to present information in a compact way in order to attract visitors. Although it is quite feasible to make an encyclopaedia out of the website, the website would hardly benefit from it. Only page loading time will be longer, believes Dmitry Zhuk. The website is envisaged as a window meant to welcome visitors and guide them through their website-powered travel around Belarus. The website developers have put a heavy emphasis on the “Press centre” section. It will not be something like BelTA’s newsline, explained Igor Lutsky. The section will feature only major news about events in Belarus. The “Video” section of the website offers weekly reviews of events accompanied by text articles. The website contains a lot of useful information for tourists, in particular, the operation of airports, hotels and other things. Belarus.by developers have worked hard to promote the website in rankings of search engines. The website is designed to attract visitors from outside Belarus. At present it is available in English and Russian. As from September 4 it will be available in Belarusian, too. There are plans to make Belarus.by available in other languages as well. This is just the beginning, with plans already drafted to enhance the website.
